Birthday and a ballpark: December 21

Happy 42nd birthday to D'Angelo Jimenez, a native of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic! D'Angelo played for seven franchises from 1999 to 2007, including 2003 to 2005 with Cincinnati. He was a coach for the Cubs' Dominican League team in 2019.

D'Angelo recorded the first hit in the history of Philadelphia's Citizens Bank Park on April 12, 2004, leading off with a ground-rule double. Jimenez moved to third on Barry Larkin's grounder and scored the ballpark's first run on a wild pitch. He added a fifth inning single, scoring on a double by Ken Griffey, Jr. The Reds won the game, 4-1.

Jimenez went on to set career bests in games played, runs, doubles, RBI, stolen bases and walks in 2004.
